Introduction to Radiation Safety - Part I

The purpose of this self-paced, online course is to introduce new Radiation Workers and Authorized Users to the particulars of the Radiation Safety Program at MU.  The course content includes, but is not limited to, basic regulatory information and radiation safety program structure, basic radiation safety science, radiation exposure and dose limits, associated MU specific limits of contamination and radiation exposure, dose reduction techniques, surveys and instrumentation, purchase and receipt of radioactive material, security and safe handling, disposal of radioactive materials, spill response, and important information for the Authorized User.  This course must be completed prior to registration for Introduction to Radiation Safety – Part II.

The course is available through Blackboard.  To register for this course, please complete this form and allow up to 1-2 weeks for the course to appear on your Blackboard course list.  Upon logging into Blackboard, click on the “Introduction to Radiation Safety – Part I” link under your course list and follow the instructions provided to complete the course.
